DJ Equipment Make: Numark direct drive turntable

DJ Equipment Model: TT200

Pros: The Numark TT200 turntable is an intermediate level deck around $200 that is better than anything in its class. Highly recommended for the serious beginner who doesn't want to get a direct drive, but also not sure about investing in 1200s just yet?

The torque seems on par with the 1200s, and it has interchangeable straight and S tone arms. The pitch control and speed settings can be switched for battle set up.

It's also beautiful looking too, without looking or feeling like a toy, as its price range might indicate. It has recessed handles, and unlike the 1200, the RCA cords are not built in (which I see as a pro, since you can use your own Monster RCAs) It's pretty solid too.

Cons: There aren't many cons....I'd actually say its biggest con is that at $200, people might pass on it considering its price.

Its biggest annoyance is a quartz lock on the pitch control that you have to unlock whenever you turn on the deck. It's also easy to accidentally turn the lock on without knowing it.

I've train wrecked my share of times doing this by accident. Its not as Sherman tank rock solid as 1200s, but that said it's pretty solid.

Additional Comments: All in all, if you are a serious beginner or intermediate level, these are the decks. Don't let the price fool you.

For $300 it is a good buy if your budget is $400 I'd consider the Numark TTX or the StantonST-100s or American Audio HD.
