Dimitri From Paris - Return to the Playboy Mansion

Submitted by Charlee on 9th May, 10:37AM

Dimitri From Paris, the suavest DJ in the world, is well renowed for his musical connections to the fashion industry, Playboy, and of course the sweet sounds of house and disco dating back to a time before house music had a label. Return To The Playboy Mansion continues the Playboy branded saga, consisting of two mix CDs labelled 'Partytime' and 'Sexytime' respectively, and delivering more classic sounds of renowed Dimitri-style house and disco.

The first mix CD, appropriately labelled Partytime is filled with a carefully selected list of remixed and original disco with an upbeat groove evidently designed to lift you up and put a smile on your face, mixed in with funky house tunes we may all have heard at one point in time. Starting off with Jamiroquai's 'Cosmic Girl', Dimitri moves through a variety of well known party classics by Incognito, Robert Strauss, and Marvin Gaye, to name only a few, and you need not be a house-head or even have any extensive knowledge of music to recognise at least one or two tracks on this CD. It truly is a party mix.

The second disc, named Sexytime, is a lot slower and consequently sexier mix mainly consisting of love songs from the Afro-American soul genre of the 1970's. It is no surprise then that it begins with 'Close The Door' by Teddy Pendergrass closely followed by Barry White's 'I'm Gonna Love You Just A Little More Baby'. In fact, there is not a single track on this CD that can't in some way be related to making love, thus making it a perfect selection for bedroom antics, and possibly proving that Dimitri From Paris is a true ladie's man.

A must-have album, even if only for a well mixed assortment of classic songs from an era that paved the road for house music itself.
