Office romances now have to be revealed to your boss.

More and more firms are making it a requirement that employees sign contracts declaring love affairs in the workplace.

Companies cite jealousy, favouritism and break-up fallout as the reasons behind the contracts.

It begs the question of what happens if someone doesn't report it

In extreme cases, workers are being banned from the practice completely.

Despite the fact that this infringes workers' human rights, employers want the go ahead for the move in order to prevent office conflict and employment tribunals.

Employment lawyer Elaine Aaron said: 'No one has yet brought a test case under the Human Rights Act.

'But love contracts may well breach the right to privacy.'

If you ask employees to report an affair,' she continued, 'that begs the question of what happens if someone doesn't report it. Or what happens if they report the affair, they are told to stop, but the relationship continues.'
